Illa Kuryaki and the Valderramas is an Argentine band formed in 1991 by Dante Spinetta (formerly known as Dante) and Emmanuel Horvilleur (formerly known as Emmanuel). The duo is known for their eclectic music style, blending elements of funk, hip hop, rock, and electronic music.
The band released their debut album, "Horno para calentar los mares" in 1994, which was a critical and commercial success in Argentina. They followed up with several more albums, including "Chaco" (1995), "Lejos" (1999), and "Kuriaki" (2009).
Illa Kuryaki and the Valderramas have won multiple awards, including several Latin Grammy Awards, and are considered one of the most influential bands in the Latin American music scene. They have collaborated with artists such as Gustavo Cerati, Andrés Calamaro, and Julieta Venegas.
The band went on hiatus in 2001, with both Dante and Emmanuel pursuing solo projects, but they reunited in 2011 and have continued to release music and tour together. Their latest album, "L.H.O.N." was released in 2020.
